| EASC 118 - Our Blue Planet: An Introduction to Oceanography |

An introduction to Oceanography - the physical, chemical, geological, and biological processes and characteristics of Earth’s oceans. Topics covered include the evolution of ocean basins; the physical and chemical properties of seawater; ocean-atmosphere interactions and cycles; multi-dimensional ocean circulation; and large-scale fluctuations such as tides and waves. This course is designed for all students interested in the oceans and their preservation. Note: Students intending to major or minor in Earth Systems Science should take EASC 228 Principles of Oceanography.
Prerequisite: Eligibility to enroll in college-level math without corequisite remediation, or permission of the instructor.
