| CFST 321 - Theory and Practice of Play |

An exploration of classic and contemporary theories of play. Hands-on investigations apply these theories to highlight the many forms and benefits of playful learning for children, aged birth to young adult. Specific topics addressed include creativity; imagination; cognitive, social, physical, and emotional development; and the influence of the environment and materials. Students learn ways to observe, assess, and use play to make decisions about learning and to guide or facilitate play experiences.
Prerequisite: CFST 118 Child, Family, School, and Community: Connections and Collaborations.
