| BBED 930 - Biliteracy and Oral Language Development |

An examination of the theories, practices, and application of simultaneous and sequential biliteracy and oral language development. Participants explore theories and research in the field of Second Language Acquisition (SLA) that shape instructional strategies for the development of bilingualism and literacies in families, schools, and communities. The course emphasizes research-based pedagogical practices that facilitate oracy and biliteracy development in dual language classrooms. Instructional strategies and content area lessons related to World Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) guidelines are developed and documented in a sample portfolio.
Prerequisites: TESL910 Principles and Foundations of Bilingual Education and Dual Language Education; LTRC 907 Literacy Instruction (May be waived per Program Coordinator).
