ARTS 254 - Painting Methods |
An introductory course designed to strengthen the students’ awareness of the history and techniques of the craft of painting while exposing students to contemporary styles and ideas about visual art production. This course is meant to aid in the development of the students’ technical and observational skills. Students concentrate on the essential elements of painting, its materials, methods and craft. The structure of this course is centralized around a series of exercises that prepare students for higher levels of problem solving, increase their self-discipline, and develop an understanding of the articulation of brushwork, composition and color. Note: Students may not receive credit for both this course and ARTS 221 Painting I.
Prerequisite: ARTS 200 Drawing Fundamentals or permission of the instructor.
