A survey of major artists and art movements from Post-Impressionism through Abstract Expressionism (1880's to 1950's). Issues and events of the late nineteenth century to mid-twentieth century century, such as rapidly expanding technology, world wars, utopian movements, and issues of race, class, and gender are explored in relationship to avant-garde art movements.
