An overview of Google Earth as a cross-curricular tool for accessing geographic information and enhancing curriculum content. Participants utilize the Google Earth interface to create innovative lessons that provide students with interactive experiences using maps, GPS and satellite imagery. Instruction focuses on classroom-based examples of Google Earth applications, followed by assisted practice. A special emphasis will be placed on using Google Earth in subject areas beyond history and geography; for example, exploring art and architecture, creating Lit Trips to research settings of classroom literature or producing expository writing in Placemarks.
