PRDV 71324 - Common Core Standards in Reading and Writing: Connecting Standards to Practice |
An in-depth examination of the rationale and advantages for common national standards, and how these will help teachers help students learn. Participants examine the ten Anchor Standards in reading and writing and how they apply to each grade level. Participants also review instructor-developed mastery teaching units and exemplary Common Core rubrics to guide and assess students’ learning. Using on-line research and peer and instructor comments, participants explore performance assessment and mastery learning by creating their own teaching unit for their class. Sessions also include the new Educator Evaluation and Accountability systems tied to CCSS standards student learning.
