This course is : A study of contemporary issues impacting Human Resource Managers. The President's Executive Order on discrimination regarding the LGBT population and cases of race and class conflict at an international firms in the Caribbean are discussed as is the historical and perhaps distorted application of Abraham Maslow's theories on motivation. Eight unique topics are explored using contemporary articles and readings covering private and public sector topics as well as international subjects.

Topics in Business: Preparation to Lead - 90911 - MGMT 975 - C1H
A study of leadership. Will you be ready when your time comes? Until such time, are you able to select the leadership you will follow? In this course we define leadership, and span the thought leadership in the management and leadership literature that describes it. We examine whether it is something one can develop and if so, how. We learn how to distinguish it from management; assess how it has changed in its form and in societal expectations over time, and also how you may exercise it without having formal authority.
