| GEOG 375 - Sustainable Management of Natural Resources |

An analysis of traditional and emerging resource management philosophies, ecosystem preservation practices, and sustainable methods of management. Through discussions, oral presentations, and writing projects, students learn how effective policy can turn societal objectives into focused actions. The course focuses on legal mandates for creating sustainable policies with regard to energy, water, air, forestry, minerals, wildlife, and other natural resources, at local, state, and federal scales. Students create comprehensive management plans using current and emerging strategies to provide for efficient and effective ways to promote sustainable natural resource use, particularly in light of the rapid movement of the energy sector away from fossil fuels, and the rapid, global, and disruptive effects of climate change.
Prerequisite: ENWR 110 Composition II or permission of instructor.
