SPMG 262 - The Business of Fantasy Sports |
An exploration of fantasy sports and their connection to the greater landscape of the sports-based economy. The business of traditional fantasy sports, daily fantasy sports, sports betting, and esports are examined. Topics include the history and growth of fantasy sports, sports betting, and esports as well as the regulatory environment’s impact on fantasy sports and sports betting. Students explore the current state and evolution of the industries; the relationship between fantasy sports, professional leagues, and sporting businesses; the industry of fantasy sports analysis; strategies for fantasy and betting improvement; and the societal criticisms and merits of fantasy sports. Note: Students cannot earn credit for both this course and MGMT 262 The Fantasy Sports Business or MRKT 262 The Fantasy Sports Business.
