An exploration of the connection between critical environmental issues and social inequality. Students examine why environmental issues cannot be resolved solely by individuals or technologies and the importance of sociological and social justice dimensions. Topics covered may include the social and ethical implications of global warming; the effects of the environment on personal and social health; the role of race/ethnicity, class, and gender in environmental issues; and the politics of environmental destruction and restoration.
