SCOM 495 - Internship in Science Communication
A supervised practical experience in communicating science in an approved professional setting. Students are expected to be involved in the development and finalization of oral, visual, and written materials in which scientific work is presented. A minimum of 160 on-site hours is necessary to complete the internship, and an application is required for all arranged internships. All internships must be approved by the SCOM internship coordinator and the student’s major department chair. Note: Minor in Science Communication only. Prerequisites: Junior standing, COMM 215 Science Communication, ENGL 311 Writing About Science, and two (2) science courses (see approved list in the minor).
