ENGL 389 - Modern and Contemporary British and Irish Poetry
A study of poets writing in Britain and Ireland since 1890. The course examines approaches to literary tradition and poetic form in the context of the upheavals of the twentieth- and twenty-first centuries. Authors may include Gerard Manley Hopkins, W.B. Yeats, W.H. Auden, Stevie Smith, Dylan Thomas, Seamus Heaney, Alice Oswald, and Eavan Boland. Prerequisite: ENGL 204 Literary Study or permission of instructor.
