HSTY 381 - Remaking Europe: History, Politics, and Culture since World War II
An examination of European history since the end of World War II. In this course students analyze how the politics, culture and society of both Western and Eastern Europe have been transformed since 1945. Topics covered may include the legacy of fascism, the Cold War, decolonization, the emergence of the European Union, the rise and fall of communism, and immigration from formerly colonized countries in Asia and Africa. Special focus is placed on the diversity of European identities and how they have changed since 1945. Prerequisites: Sophomore standing and one (1) 100-level history course; or permission of instructor.
