HSTY 329 - The Viking Age |
An examination of the political, cultural, and social history of the Scandinavian peoples of Europe circa 750 – 1100 Common Era (CE). Topics include the political impact of the Viking raids on the polities of Western and Eastern Europe, the conversion of the Scandinavians to Christianity, and the Viking settlement of Iceland, Greenland, and North America.
Prerequisite: Sophomore standing and one 100-level history course, or permission of instructor.
