ENGL 320 - Young Adult Literature |
A study of literature for young adults ages 12 and up. The course investigates the development of a young adult canon through examination of classic and contemporary works including graphic novels, poetry, and a variety of fictional genres, such as realism, fantasy and science fiction. Students explore the aesthetic developments of young adult literature, its historical and cultural contexts, and its expression of philosophical ideas of adolescence. Note: Students may not receive credit for both this course and ENGL 219 Young Adult Literature.
Prerequisite: ENGL 204 Literary Study or permission of instructor.
