ENGL 310 - Composition Theory and Pedagogy |
A survey of major historical and contemporary theories in composition scholarship, including cognitivism, expressivism, social construction, and post-process theory, as well as their pedagogical applications. Assignments focus on characteristics of effective writing and writing instruction. The course provides students with background knowledge on the relationship between writing, rhetoric, reading, and English grammar. Note: This course cannot be used to fulfill the department requirement for four literature courses at the 300-level or above.
Prerequisites: Junior standing and ENGL 204 Literary Study, or permission of the instructor.
