An analysis of the development of American metropolitan areas. Topics include the history of urbanization and planning in the United States, urban finance, suburban sprawl, racial inequalities and gentrification, environmental degradation, vulnerability to global climate change, and other urban problems of American cities and towns. Local field trips may be included.
