BIOL 232 - Invertebrate Zoology |
A comparative study of the invertebrate animal phyla with emphasis on marine forms. The course stresses functional morphology, development, behavior, and ecological and evolutionary relationships among the various groups. Students study live specimens whenever possible. Students are required to enroll in the corresponding laboratory (3 hours). Laboratory exercises include field trips to collect and study invertebrates of the region.
Corequisite: BIOL 232L Invertebrate Zoology Lab.
Prerequisite: BIOL 130 Principles of Biology with Lab, or BIOL 135 Foundations of Biological Science with Lab, or both BIOL 160 Introduction to Organismal Biology with Lab and BIOL 161 Introduction to Cell and Molecular Biology with Lab; or permission of the instructor.
