GEOG 201 - Money, Power, and Space: Introduction to Economic Geography |
The study of the organization and interrelationships of and between economic and non-economic actors and institutions, and their activities in and across geographical space. Emphasis is on factors influencing the spatial distribution of economic activities such as agriculture, manufacturing, services, and technology, as well as the impact of globalization on the aforementioned activities. The course also considers economically sustainable theories and the relevance of the Green Economy in transforming conventional production, consumption, and disposal cycles. Furthermore, the course utilizes geospatial technology to critically analyze current issues in economic geography and environmental economic geography.
Prerequisite: Sophomore standing.
