COMM 115 - Human Communication |
An introduction to the theories, models, and contexts of the study human of communication. Students explore elements of the basic communication model (communicator, message, and medium) and the various contexts in which communication dynamics occur (perceptions of self, relationships, groups, and the public sphere). Emphasis is placed on the intersection of verbal and nonverbal messages in face-to-face communication and how cultural norms inform, and are informed by, human communication. Special attention is given to developing an awareness of ethics and social responsibility in human communication.
