TESL 924 - Language Planning and Mulitcultural Education |
A look at the complex socio-political issue of dominant and non-dominant national languages
and prestige foreign languages. The course examines the effects of national policies on local
languages and cultures and the role of educational institutions in promoting social unity and
cultural diversity. Examples of bilingual, immersion, and integrated models are examined and
particular attention is given to multiculturalism.
