HIST 862 - Ancient Greece: From the Homeric through the Hellenistic Age |
This course will focus on the history of ancient Greece. Topics will include the society and
thought of the Homeric period; the rise of the polis and the thought of the Archaic age; the Persian
wars, the Athenian empire, Periclean Athens, the Peloponnesian wars, and the thought of
the fifth century; and the empire of Alexander the Great and the thought of the Hellenistic age.
