ENGL 848 - Studies in the Bible as Literature (Group D) |
An in-depth study of the literary art of the Bible in the context of the literature of the ancient
Middle East. Focusing on specific topics, the course investigates the special literary characteristics
of sacred texts, and may emphasize particular techniques (such as allusion, repetition, or
parallelism) or genres (such as poetry, epic, prophecy fable, or history) within the Bible canon.
Prerequisite: One graduate English literature course or one undergraduate English literature course at the 200 level or higher.
