| CPSY 921 - Professional Issues in Counseling and Mental Health |

A consideration of the ethical and legal issues relevant to the counseling and mental health professions. This course reviews the ethical principles of the American Psychological Association
and the American Counselor Association. The history of the counseling profession is covered
with emphasis on the emerging role of the mental health counselor. Topics explored include
certification, licensure, federal and state regulations (e.g., confidentiality, duty to warn), and
professional identity.
