BIOL 220 - Animal Behavior
A study of the influence of natural selection on the behavior of animals. This course emphasizes the distinction between the immediate causes of behavior, including external stimuli and internal physiological mechanisms, and the ultimate consequences or survival value of behavior. Topics such as learning and instinct, aggression, territoriality, communication, and social behavior are discussed. Laboratory. Prerequisite: INTD 225 Biopsychology or BIOL 160 Introduction to Organismal Biology or BIOL 101 Biological Concepts or permission of the instructor.
